We are aware that schools are becoming more eco friendly. Our aim is to support you in your eco work. Fones4Schools fits very nicely alongside any other eco work that you are doing. Our campaign allows you to work towards improving your eco status as well as getting prizes for the children and cash for your school. Fones4Schools creates no extra work and fulfils many of the criteria involved in becoming more eco friendly.
Running Fones4Schools can improve your eco status in the following way:
- Water / Plant and Animal life - Mobile phones contain toxic substances which can leak into soil that surrounds landfill sites, not only polluting groundwater, but harming plant and animal life. Many of these chemicals cannot be removed from the drinking water supply or from the crops that are harvested from contaminated fields.
- Energy – Refurbishing and reusing a mobile phone uses a lot less energy than producing a new mobile phone from scratch.
- Waste – Fones4Schools stops unused mobiles from going to landfill and ensures they are reused or recycled.
- Food & Drink – Many of the chemicals that leak into soil from mobile phones being sent to landfill cannot be removed from the drinking water supply or from the crops that are harvested from contaminated fields. Recycling mobile phones helps to reduce this and improve the food and water we consume.
